Hello there!

I'm Bia, a UI/UX designer from Portugal, currently finishing my MSc in Interaction Design at the University of Lisbon.

I got here sideways: languages, international relations, multimedia, and now Interaction Design. I'm curious about a lot of things, and we only get one life, so why not?

In 2019, while studying international relations, I got curious about how apps were made and started learning programming. That led to my first app: I designed it, a friend built it, and it taught people to write mischievous little Notepad scripts. It reached almost 15,000 users before Google Play decided some of them were a little too mischievous. Entirely fair. I was young...

I've been designing apps and websites ever since, with rather more useful content now!

What stayed with me is that ideas behave differently once real people get hold of them. So I don't assume a design works: I test it, measure it, and report what I find, including the results that aren't flattering.

A few things about me

I took up chess when I started my multimedia degree. Recently I placed first in blitz at the district championships. 🏆

I graduated top of my Multimedia class, and two honours came out of that year:

  • Recognition of Academic Merit Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) For outstanding academic performance in the 2023/2024 year.
  • Best Student in the BSc in Multimedia Polytechnic Institute of Bragança For academic excellence across the whole degree.
