Plaktivat is an open international poster competition run by the Tam Tam Institute in Ljubljana, each edition set on a single public-interest theme. The fifteenth edition asked for posters on blood donation. These are the three I made.
The brief is street advertising: the poster is read in passing, by someone not looking for it, with no time to work anything out. So rather than three variations on one idea, each poster takes a different route to the same act — one clinical, one comic, one humanist — and each has to land on its own.
The palette is fixed across the set. Two reds and an off-white, nothing else. Blood is already the most legible signal available for this subject, so the restraint is not a stylistic preference: it means every red mark on every poster reads as blood by default, and the posters do not have to spend any of their two seconds establishing what they are about.
